You're Probably Getting Screwed by John Deere
Interview with Claire Kelloway of the Open Markets Institute
Welcome to You’re Probably Getting Screwed, a weekly newsletter and video series from J.D. Scholten and Justin Stofferahn about the Second Gilded Age and the ways economic concentration is putting politics and profits over working people.
Didn’t this week’s You’re Probably Getting Screwed go out on Tuesday? Yes, but in 2025 we are working to do more including occasional interviews.
This week I spoke with Claire Kelloway the Food Systems Program Manager at the Open Markets Institute and the author of the Food & Power newsletter which you can subscribe to here.
We spoke about the most recent edition of Food & Power, which dives into several key enforcement actions by the Biden Administration in their final week of power including right to repair and price discrimination.
Book Club!!!
A reminder that we are adding a book club!!! We’ve gotten some great recommendations from people for books to cover, so please keep those coming.
Each month we will be promoting a book and at the end of the month will interview the author. We encourage folks to read the book and send in questions that we will ask the authors.
Our first book will be Austin Frerick’s Barons, which came out in 2024 and has received a ton of good reviews and press, which you can read about here.
You can purchase the book at your local bookstore and many places online, including at the Greatest Store in the Universe.

BEFORE YOU GO
A second reminder! If you have ideas on who to interview or what book should be the “book of the month” down the road, please let us know.
Break Em Up,
Justin Stofferahn
I sure wish you’d change your title — it makes me want to NOT read when I see it in my email.
THANK YOU!
